Assistant Gift Shop Manager
Requirements:
• Assistant Managers oversees the day-to-day operations and assists in managing the retail staff.
• Public speaking skills for on board demonstrations.
• Managerial experience necessary.
• At least 5 years retail experience in boutiques, jewelry stores, etc.
• Usually retail staff member on board appointed by the manager.
• Reports directly to the gift shop manager.
Shop Assistant
• Applicants are required to speak English and Italian or Spanish,
• be aged between 21-35 years
and have some retail or marketing experiences.

How do I get paid?
Shipboard employees are paid cash in hand at the end of each voyage.
Do I receive medical insurance?
Medical insurance is provided for all employees “signed on the vessel”. This insurance is not in force when employees sign off the vessel for vacation. Employees in transit from one vessel to another are covered. (Specific exclusions to be advised upon employment).
Can I choose my first ship?
Newly hired employees are assigned to open positions based on the needs of the business. Special itineraries are later offered to employees as an incentive for previous successful contract(s).
How long is the contract?
The length of the employment contract is six months.
How many hours a week will I be required to work?
Working hours are determined by the itinerary of the vessel, shop opening hours, delivery schedule, shop floor and warehouse maintenance requirements and inventory. This will require flexibility on your part.
Will I be allowed in passenger areas?
This is dependent on the policy of each particular cruise line. Most offer passenger area privileges but on some cruise lines staff and crew are restricted to crew areas during non-work periods.
Do I pay for my uniform?
Starboard supplies all shop employees with uniforms at the beginning of each contract with the exception of footwear. You are responsible for the up keep of the uniforms.
How old do I need to be to apply?
The minimum age requirement is 21 years old.
Are there opportunities for advancement?
